HIGH COURT - MATALE

The High Court of Matale is a major legal institution that protects the right to life, personal liberty, and justice for the people of the Matale District in the Central Province.

Opened on July 5, 2019, by the then Chief Justice, Hon. Jayantha Jayasuriya, PC, the Matale High Court led to the separation of the Matale Judicial Zone into an independent zone, which previously functioned under the Kandy High Court Judicial Zone. As a result, the legal proceedings of the District / Magistrate Courts of Matale, Naula, and Dambulla, as well as the Labour Tribunal of Palapathwela, were centralized around it.

The role played by the Matale High Court in protecting right of people and ensuring a fair trial is extremely vital.
